PRM is a hybrid motor of a permanent magnet motor and a reluctance motor combined on the same rotor section. Torque generated by both permanent magnet and reluctance torque and current, the ratio between the two is typically about 6:4. V-shape permanent magnets configuration to a strong magnetic anisotropy in order to generate large reluctance torque and concentrating the flux of the permanent magnet rotor core arrangement in shape is used effectively. Thus PRM has achieved both reluctance and PM torque high for maximum availablity.
