    ISDB-S, developed in Japan for digital satellite broadcasting system, achieved huge transmission capacity of 52Mbit/sec in one satellite transponder channel by introducing trellis 8PSK modulation scheme. In addition, this system can apply some modulation schemes such as QPSK,/BPSK and can handle multi Transport Streams (TSs) independently in one channel by using frame/slot structure and time division multiplexing. It realizes hierarchical transmission to mitigate the effect of heavy rain attenuation, and sharing one satellite channel by multi-broadcasters independently. Japanese digital satellite broadcasting service started in 2000 introduced this system, and more than 40 million receivers have been spread in 2009.
